Install

The housing was shortened 6" on the driver’s side and I had the shaft shortened at http://www.mitchelldifferential.com/
 

Now the install is pretty straight forward. This axle shares the same tube diameter as the Dana 44 so the ubolt plates and ubolts bolt right up. I have ground off the spring perches and shock mounts to re-use them. I set the axle under the jeep and perform the hi-tech process of setting the pinion angle (ah looks good enough). Then I tac the perches and shock mounts.

I remove the housing and finish the welds and paint it.

The axle ends up 60" wheel mounting surface to mounting surface after cutting it 6", my tires are on 12" rims (not what I ordered) but this shows the tire stick-out with the boggers. Oh well, it's better then being 66" (c:
